Mold Operator and Process Technician - Job Description

The Mold Processor Tech will be responsible for running our value-added, low volume injection molds utilizing our four presses. You will also be working directly with customers when you set-up, process and sample our molds to make sure they arrive at our customers' facility press-ready.

Responsibilities:

  • Experience in installing a mold, connecting hydraulic lines, limit switches, water lines, etc.
  • Capable of testing water circuits for flow
  • Ability to set clamp tonnage and other settings related to production requirements
  • Experienced in set up of ancillary equipment including: conveyors, chillers, thermolators, hot runner controllers, etc.
  • Experienced in processing a mold to produce parts to print
  • Experienced in processing a variety of resins and/or willingness to learn
  • Experienced performing ISIRs and PPAPs, checking molded parts to their part prints. Scientific molding experience a plus.
  • Ability to sort, pack and label molded parts for shipping. Includes boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to troubleshoot molding problems, including shorts and flash, etc.
  • Ability to keep materials, equipment and work areas maintained in an orderly and safe manner
  • Experience disassembling, cleaning, troubleshooting and reassembling injection molds.
  • Ability to perform mold change-overs for tools that run multiple part numbers.
  • Build crates for safe and secure shipping of molds.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Solid communication skills and excellent problem-solving ability

What are we looking for?

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-5 years in a manufacturing environment
  • 2 years minimum molding experience
  • Positive attitude
  • Strong communication skills and mechanical ability
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of injection molding processes, tooling, and metal-forming processes
  • Experience using machines such as lathes, milling machines, grinding machines
  • Able to analyze and correct complex mold malfunctions to ensure a mold will produce acceptable parts. Identify problems during a task and create solutions.
  • Able to understand and perform to quality standards and methods.
  • Able to multi-task and work with minimal supervision.
