Considerations: Chicago Glue & Machine (CGM) is a leading adhesive and adhesive equipment distributor in the Midwest and one of the largest in the US. A Business Development Manager at CGM is responsible for identifying and closing new repeatable and sustainable sales. They are tasked with generating leads, identifying key decision makers, and navigating the buying process to bring new business to CGM. This person is an active member of the Leadership Team.

This role involves a significant amount of time on phone and video calls, working through email, and meeting face to face with potential clients. The ideal Business Development Manager must be resilient, energetic, determined, a lifelong learner, and a self-starter motivated by success. Our Business Development Managers are energized by engaging potential clients in discussions that underline the value CGM can bring to their operations.


Full Time: Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, availability in the evenings and weekends as needed. This is a hybrid role.

Primary Duties

  • Act as a member of the CGM Sales Team by working to develop and implement sales strategies for adhesive products, adhesive machines and parts, and the servicing of adhesive equipment.
  • Identify potential clients in the target markets and complete appropriate research on the prospective client's business.
  • Identify key decision makers within prospective accounts, develop a plan to get their attention, and successfully execute the plan.
  • Identify goals, needs, and challenges of potential clients to understand what the driving force will be for a prospect to purchase from CGM.
  • Navigate potential clients' buying process to properly move them through the sales process to close new business.
  • Attend customer trials and demos.
  • Negotiate contract terms with clients and communicate terms to stakeholders.
  • Work with and clearly communicate with Territory Managers to ensure a clean transition once business is won.
  • Detailed tracking in CRM.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in related field
  • Successful track record in B2B sales and negotiation
  • Industry knowledge preferred but not required
  • Proven working experience as a business development manager, sales executive, or a relevant role
  • Must be able to pass background check and drug screen

Work is performed indoors in an office and production settings. Trips to customers where conditions can vary.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
