Die Setter / Lead Operator Fine Blanking Division - Job Description


Sko-Die, a TMA member company, is seeking a Die Setter / Lead Operator for the Fine Blanking Department to add to our exceptional team in Morton Grove, IL. The Die Setter / Lead Operator Sets up punch presses with tooling or dies for specific jobs. Applies knowledge of layout, product design, machine setup, capacities and output, and fitting processes.

Job Functions:

  • Analyzes job travelers, work pieces, packaging instructions and blueprints to determine process, materials, machines, tooling, and sequence of
  • Sets up progressive and compound laminations dies in various tonnage presses, following standard work
  • Sets up ancillary equipment required for production: including conveyors, scrap handling, feed line, tooling sensors, safety devices, and stacking
  • Instruct operators on operation of press, production process and use of conveyors or part
  • Performs quality inspections using precision micrometers, calipers or stacking fixtures before submitting parts for job approval and for in process
  • Investigates malfunction of machines and equipment to determine adjustments or need for
  • Enforces safety regulations for press
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product, and suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of
  • Analyzes and resolves minor process problems as
  • Retains last piece part and scrap strip from production die and records die condition
  • Move, handle and/or load material to presses or defined
  • Accurately inputs labor and quality data into data collection
  • Drives a forklift

Job Requirements:

  • Requires a High School diploma or E.D. with a minimum of 4 years' experience in production die setting.
