Tool and Die Designer - Job Description

The tool and die designer specifically develops prints for metal stampings and assembly processes. This person will also be expected to develop engineering processes and communicate effectively with customers and management. They must have the ability to work independently, proactively, meet deadlines and work as a member of a cohesive team.

Responsibilities:

• blueprint reading
• develop blank shape and determine part mass
• develop die layout
• determine type of die (progressive, transfer, form, etc.)
• determine number of stations required to build part
• component teardown and assembly BOM development
• attend customer and kick off meetings

Job Requirements:

Previous experience as a die maker/designer (or equivalent) with strong background in tooling and stamping processes.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong computer skills, including excel, word and solidworks are a must.
