Position Overview

The Shipping and Receiving Associate at Gates Washer & Mfg. is a critical member of our operations team, responsible for handling incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring that all orders are packed with care, and maintaining accurate inventory records. This role plays a key part in the overall success of our business by upholding our quality standards and ensuring that customer orders are fulfilled on time and without error.

Key Responsibilities

• Packing Orders: Carefully pack customer orders according to company guidelines to reduce damage and ensure presentation meets organizational standards.
• Quality Control: Inspect products and packages for defects, accuracy, and completeness before shipping. Collaborate with the quality assurance team to report and resolve any discrepancies.
• Shipping Coordination: Prepare shipments by selecting appropriate packaging, labeling, and shipping methods. Coordinate with carriers and vendors to schedule pick-ups and deliveries.
• Receiving Deliveries: Accept incoming shipments, verify contents against purchase orders or invoices, and check for damages or missing items.
• Inventory Management: Update inventory management systems to ensure stock levels are accurate. Monitor inventory discrepancies and report them to supervisors.
• Timeliness: Prioritize tasks to meet daily shipping deadlines and ensure orders are dispatched within the promised timeframe.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed records of shipments, receipts, and inventory movements using digital and/or physical logs.
• Communication: Liaise with other departments, such as sales, customer service, and warehouse teams, to resolve issues and keep everyone informed of order status.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and company policies while handling goods, operating equipment, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve shipping and receiving processes for greater efficiency and accuracy.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; further education or certifications in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain management are an asset.
• Previous experience in a shipping, receiving, or warehouse role preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Basic math and computer skills; familiarity with inventory software is an advantage.
• Ability to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs, and to stand or walk for extended periods.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Clear communication skills for interacting with team members and external partners.
• Problem-solving abilities, especially in high-pressure or deadline-driven environments.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in a warehouse or shipping/receiving environment, which may include variable temperatures, noise, and movement of heavy equipment.
• Use of forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other material handling equipment may be required.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety shoes, and high-visibility vests may be mandatory.
