CNC Programmer & Setup - Job Description


CP Aero is precision machine shop specializing in milling and turning, supplying to the Aerospace & Defense Industry. Focused on automation and lights out machining, we are looking for talented individuals that can keep up with our fast-paced environment!!

 

CNC Programmer:

Qualifications:

Understands and can interpret customer drawings, including GD&T, parts lists, ECOs, WI, and Inspection Plans.

2-5 years experience operating, programming, setting up, and maintaining a multi-axis CNC lathes and mills with Fanuc controller.

Master Cam experience preferred.

Ability to use manual inspection devices such as bore gages, micrometers, dial indicators, height gages, thread and pin gages, microscopes for visual inspection, profilometers, optical comparators and Rockwell testers.

Ability to design, create, mount and load tooling, fixtures, vises, jaws and touch off all tooling.

Ability to produce a first piece inspection part.

Understand basic trouble shooting of speeds & feeds, work holding, tool selection and tool wear.

Ability to work with QC for publication of in-process inspection plans.

Ability to train operators to run and inspect parts approved for production.

 

Duties & Expectations:

Operate CNC machine in a manner that is safe, producing quality products and meeting production expectations set forth by management.

Program parts using existing CAD models if available. Save onto network following company procedure.

Design and create work holding fixtures, work order process and instructions.

Utilize programs, select tools, fixtures, work zeros and set-up part for first piece approval.

Work with QC to get first piece approved and in-process inspection plans in place and request all inspection gages required to check parts at machine.

Report any maintenance issues to Maintenance Manager or immediate supervisor.

Mentor operators to properly run production and document inspection, as required.

Document work in ProShop ERP system as applicable to maintain traceability and quality records.

Identify when applicable, continuous improvement of processes and understand the contribution to the effectiveness of the QMS.

Communicate any concerns or issues related to production of parts, safety and quality to immediate supervisor for machine or project.

Ensure the FOD program is being adhered to during all times.

Have basic measuring tools: Caliper, Micrometer, Test Indicator and assure they are in current calibration.

Only use calibrated measuring equipment whether personal or company supplied. If not in proper calibration notify quality department to have corrected immediately.

Handle inspection equipment, machines and parts in a manner that will not cause damage or compromise integrity.

Maintain a positive attitude and punctuality.

Keep clean and organized work area.

Willing to work in a team environment.

Aware of quality policies, procedures, objectives, contribution to conformance of product, safety and ethics.
