The Position:
Acme Industries is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer specializing in CNC Turning processes to support complex contract machining operations across aerospace, energy, heavy equipment, and industrial markets.
This role is responsible for developing, programming, and optimizing vertical and horizontal turning processes, with a strong emphasis on process ownership, cycle time reduction, quality robustness, and scalable production readiness.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience programming and supporting multi-axis turning platforms - including turn-mill - and is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment.
Job Duties:
Create and maintain CNC programs using TopSolid (or equivalent CAM systems)
Design tooling, fixturing, and workholding strategies
Lead process prove-outs and first-article execution
Drive cycle time and throughput improvements
Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and quality issues on the floor
Collaborate with operators, quality, and engineering teams to ensure stable production
Support quoting through manufacturability input and time estimation
Document process standards and support continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure compliance with customer and regulatory quality requirements (e.g., AS9100 environments)
The Right Person/What we need from you:
- 5+ years of manufacturing engineering or CNC programming experience focused on turning
- Demonstrated expertise with: Vertical & Horizontal Turning processes
- CNC programming experience using TopSolid or comparable CAM
- Strong understanding of: Cutting tool selection, Speeds/feeds optimization, GD&T interpretation, Blueprint reading.
Preferred Qualifications:
Turn-mill / mill-turn programming experience
Experience in contract machining or high-mix production
Aerospace or regulated manufacturing experience
Fixture and workholding design capability
Knowledge of process validation / FAI support
Exposure to automation or lights-out strategies
