Tool and Die Maker - Job Description

Tool and Die Makers are responsible for the repair and maintenance of the company's tools, dies and

production fixtures.

Responsibilities

• Tool and Die Makers manufacture die components, assembles dies, diagnose and corrects problems.
• Fit and assemble parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools within precise specifications. May also modify or repair existing tools and dies.
• Performs complex tool making procedures requiring fitting and assembling parts, and making adjustments to meet requirements.
• Keep detailed records of tool maintenance, repairs, changes, and history per procedures.
• Assists production by troubleshooting any new or existing job.

Requirements

• Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent with appropriate vocational training and apprenticeship.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant progressive tooling experience. Heavy progressive stamping and die sensing/protection experience is desirable.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and designs for potential construction, operation and/or maintenance problems.
• Must be proficient in the care and preventative maintenance of all measuring, gauging, set-up tools and machines used by the tool room. Must have the ability to set-up and operate mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses, etc.
• Ability to use and understand standard inspection equipment.
• Must have solid knowledge of trigonometry and shop math.
• Solid overall knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
