Manufacturing Engineer - Job Description
Job Scope and Skill Set The Manufacturing Engineer designs and improves manufacturing methods, tooling, and fixtures for new and existing products. This role focuses on improving part manufacturability by evaluating equipment and machinery, researching alternative production methods, and conducting in-depth process reviews. Proficiency in SolidWorks is required to create and update 3D models, drawings, and tooling/fixture designs in support of manufacturing. Duties and Areas of Responsibility - Design methods of manufacturing for new and existing products to adhere to customer requirements.
- Identify failure modes and present solutions to mitigate risk during production.
- Design tooling, fixturing, and gauges for a range of manufacturing processes including spinning, machining, and inspection.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D CAD drawings for final and in-process parts and tooling/fixturing.
- Perform reverse engineering activities to develop CAD models and drawings from existing parts and customer samples.
- Complete and manage engineering change orders as required.
- Research, investigate, and present solutions to manufacturability and equipment issues during and related to production.
- Maintain and update data related to parts, tooling, and processes within the ERP system.
- Follow and support all applicable ISO9001 & AS9100 standards and procedures.
- Stay current with industry trends, technical developments, and best engineering practices.
- Secondary duties may be assigned including:
- Programming, setup, and operation of the Robotic Cell.
- CNC programming in collaboration with both the Spinning and Machining Departments.
- Programming and operation of quality inspection equipment in collaboration with the Quality Department.
- Development of code to improve organization and communication throughout the company.
- Development of custom search queries for mass data acquisition/entry.
