The Position:
We are seeking a highly dependable and detail-oriented Tool Setter/Tool Crib Attendant to support our machining operations. This role is critical to keeping production running efficiently by ensuring all tooling is assembled, preset, staged, and ready when needed. You will work closely with machinists, setup personnel, and supervisors to eliminate tooling delays, maintain inventory accuracy, and respond quickly to shop floor demands. Success in this role requires urgency, accountability, and pride in supporting throughput and on-time delivery. Hourly Pay Range: $21.00-$26.00 per hour. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
Job Duties:
Drive Production Readiness
- Assemble and preset cutting tools according to setup sheets
- Verify tools are accurate, labeled, and staged before jobs begin
- Ensure critical tooling is ready ahead of schedule
- Respond quickly to tooling requests during production runs
- Minimize machine downtime caused by tooling issues
Manage Tool Crib Operations
- Issue and receive tooling, holders, and consumables
- Maintain organized, production-ready crib layout
- Monitor inventory levels and escalate shortages early
- Track usage and support cycle counts
- Keep high-run tooling stocked and accessible
Support the Shop Floor
- Communicate directly with machinists and setup teams
- Assist with troubleshooting tooling concerns
- Prioritize work based on production schedule impact
- Maintain clean, safe, and efficient work areas
The Right Person/What we need from you:
- Manufacturing or machining environment experience
- Basic knowledge of cutting tools or machining fundamentals
- Ability to read setup sheets or tooling instructions
- Strong organization and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Preferred
- CNC tooling assembly or presetting experience
- Experience in contract machining or high-mix production
- Familiarity with ERP/tool tracking systems
- AS9100 environment experience
