Production Manager - Job Description


Position Overview:

The Production Manager will be responsible for optimizing production operations, developing a structured approach to training, and ensuring key performance targets are met. This role will be instrumental in identifying inefficiencies, implementing process improvements, and fostering a positive and accountable work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Process Optimization & Efficiency Improvement

  • Analyze production workflows, identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve OEE, focusing on availability, performance, and quality.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure proper utilization of equipment and personnel to maximize output and minimize downtime.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • OEE Improvement: Increase efficiency metrics through structured process enhancements.
  • Improvement of Setup / Changeover Time: Improve time it takes to get jobs out and other jobs in and approved.
  • Downtime Reduction: Identify and eliminate root causes of unplanned machine stoppages.
  • Scrap & Rework Reduction: Implement quality improvements to minimize material waste.
  • Training & Workforce Development: Establish a structured training program for operators and supervisors.
  • Production Throughput: Improve cycle times and ensure on-time delivery of customer orders.

Daily Operational Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily production operations, ensuring alignment with production schedules.
  • Monitor equipment utilization and collaborate with maintenance to prevent breakdowns.
  • Work closely with supervisors and production staff to ensure smooth workflow and problem resolution.
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and promote a safety-first culture.
  • Maintain communication with cross-functional teams, including Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain, to align production goals.
  • Lead daily or weekly production meetings to review KPIs and drive accountability.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing leadership role (Production Manager, Manufacturing Engineer, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge and Hands on experience of Progressive and Compound Tool and Die.
  • Strong knowledge of OEE principles, process optimization, and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Experience in training and developing production teams.
  • Hands-on problem-solving approach to improving efficiency and reducing waste.
  • Ability to analyze production data and drive performance-based decision-making.
  • Familiarity with stamping presses and metal fabrication is highly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with a focus on team-building and positive culture development.
